The First Lady, Mrs Theresa Kufuor, has commended the wife of NPP flagbearer, Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo, and the wives of former aspirants for coming together to work as a team to complement that of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, NPP flagbearer, to win this year’s presidential and general elections.
She, therefore, pledged her support to the team and said they could always count on her.
This was at a meeting when the team led by Mrs Akufo-Addo called on the First Lady at her office in Accra to brief her of their plans.
Members of the team present were Mrs Comfort Owusu-Agyeman, Mrs Helena Apraku, Mrs Alberta Oquaye, Mrs Tina Owusu-Ankomah.
The others are Mrs Esther Obetsebi-Lamptey, Mrs Adelaide Owusu-Agyepong, Mrs Agnes Frimpong-Boateng and Mrs Rosemary Addo-Kufuor.
The First Lady said “we all are in this together. We are not competing among ourselves but rather have to be united to help the party win this year’s elections.”
She advised the aspiring first lady to consult with her husband in order to ensure that their plans were not at variance with each other.
She said women had a lot to offer and saw the move by the ladies as a step in the right direction which would ultimately help in the development of the nation.
In a very relaxed atmosphere, the ladies discussed various social, political, economic issues and particularly things affecting women and how best they could help.
On her part, Mrs Akufo-Addo said the First Lady had a wealth of experiences which the team could benefit from.
She was hopeful that the First Lady would share her experiences with team as well as guide them in their endeavours.
Mrs Akufo-Addo said the team would be meeting various women’s groups as well as men, to learn, share experiences and also strategise on how to help the party to win this year’s elections.
Mrs Owusu-Agyeman said the coming together of the ladies was to demonstrate their unity, cement friendship and see how best they as women could help the party.
Contributing to the discussions, Mrs Obetsebi-Lamptey said it was important for the team to propagate the good works of the NPP in order to win floating voters.
